Leadership Development : Interaction & Decision-Making (LD-ID)
An Introduction To Good Government
Leadership Development : Interaction & Decision-Making (LD-ID) / An Introduction To Government
The LD-ID Program is a Leadership development program specially designed to provide persons interested in general leadership, but in particular political leadership, with the opportunity to explore their assumptions about leadership, to review well- known theories of leadership, and to recognize that leadership is not a single, unified concept. They will examine how thinking about leadership has changed in recent years, moving away from a focus on leadership traits and characteristics, towards a view that sees leadership as shared, relational, and part of a complex social dynamic involving inquiry and dialogue.
Looking through the lens of their own organization and career, participants will critique different theories of leadership and followership in terms of their relevance to organizations today, and appraise the relevance of different perspectives on leadership for their own leadership development.
The Program will take participants through information and procedures within the government system, and adequately prepare them to approach serving their nation in civil society, non-government organizations, the media, local government, or national leadership, as an elected official. They will become better informed regarding how government works; utilizing their new knowledge as a catalyst for in new leadership positions in the Public Service and elsewhere.
